Where's Erika?

This is too funny! Sunday my mom and dad came over to watch the western final. After supper we were all sitting in the living room hangin out and chattin. Annika came in the room with a couple toys and was playing with them for a while. After a few minutes I noticed Erika was very quiet down at their end of the house, so I asked Annika, "What's Erika doing?" She answered so calmly, "She's cutting her hair."
We all looked at eachother, I get up and bolt down the hall to the bathroom, and there is Erika, in their bathroom standing on the stool at the sink cutting some of her hair!! There were a few long strands on the floor and just some little bits in the sink. You can't even tell she did it thank god! I cringe thinking what could have happened if I didn't get there when I did. We would have been visiting my hairdresser this week I think to fix it up. Oh boy.
Now whenever I think of this I think of when I was little and I cut all the whiskers off of my cat muffin. Even the whiskers above his eyes. I don't know how old I was but my mom says she walked in the room and muffin was just sitting there on my bed. She looked on my dresser and saw all the whiskers all lined up neatly in a row. Humans are so peculiar.

The Painting Bug

Well, we managed to fix up Erika's hole in her wall. It was a long process. We thought we could patch up the hole, then just put up wall paper up half the wall with a border. Well we tried everywhere we could think of in Leduc on Saturday, Rona, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Co-op, then finally Home Depot in Edmonton. No one had wall paper. Found a few borders. Anyways, then went to Benjamin Moore, lots of wallpaper, but you have to order it! Urrrrrggggg! I hate waiting for something!
Then we decided, let's just paint! Went to Co-op but the guy there said if he were us he would be scared to paint over the kind of walls we have in our mobile home. He said the paint might not stick. So we went home, with no paint, no wall paper, I was a little disappointed. Darren patched up the wall that afternoon.
Sunday I said 'screw it! Let's just paint! What could happen?' So that morning we headed back to Leduc, Co-op was closed, so we went to the friendly neighbourhood Rona to find paint. Woooowwwww! There was a lot of paint!!!
Anyways, we ended up choosing a pretty pale yellow and got her room painted that afternoon. It looks awesome!! I am so happy with how it turned out! Now I got the painting bug and I am thinking of painting our bathrooms. I will definately be going back to Rona!
I keep asking Annika if we should paint her room but she gets all panicky and says 'No! It's perfect! Don't paint my walls!' Too funny.
And now we have to really face the fact........ Belle is gone forever. Fare thee well. Fare thee well.

Finally!

Well it's been 8 months since I did this last. I cost me $100 this time! Got to say goodbye to old friends..... (my grey hair).
Yes I finally got my hair cut and dyed again. It needed it! But man I find that expensive! It took 2 hours so my hairdresser basically made $50 per hour. Maybe I should become a hairdresser!
Anyways, my hair now has shape again and I don't look like a hippie anymore! Thanks Jackie!!!

What Now?

Just got an email this morning about some creepy guy driving around Leduc in a brown minivan, following women around to try to abduct them. This happened to someone just the other day I guess. She phoned the cops with his license plate number and that number is registered to a totally different vehicle.
You know, shopping with two toddlers if stressful enough, thank you very much. A while back someone was stealing purses from shopping carts in the parking lots while you put your groceries in the car. So now as soon as you get to your vehicle, throw the kids in! check Throw your purse in! check Okay, now throw yourself in before the creepy guy in the minivan pulls up! check Now who is going to load my groceries in the truck?
Anyways, if all the sleazeball wants is to abduct someone WHY DOESN'T HE DRIVE HIS ASS TO JASPER AVE IN HIS SHITTY MINIVAN AND TAKE HIS PICK! I know that's mean...... nobody deserves that, but really, wouldn't that be a lot easier?! Maybe it's just me.

Why Do I Do These Things?

It was last summer when my mom and I ended up standing with a group of shoppers at Walmart, watching a knife presentation. It was one of those things when you watch the presentation you get a really good deal on a knife set. The knife that impressed us the most was a long knife that would cut through anything. It slices, it dices! It cuts through bone , and yes, hammers!! Hammers? When the hell would someone need to cut into a hammer? Anyways, we chipped in together and bought the set and continued on.
Now we'll skip ahead to present day, actually to Tuesday. It started out fine, had my coffee, did some cleaning, and was thinking about maybe going to do some shopping (which I wish we did do). Well I got the urge to try to get a toy out that is stuck in the wall in Erika's room. (She has a hole in her wall made from the doorknob and in the spring they put a couple princess toys through the hole. So I took a couple hangers and taped them together, put a wad of packing tape on the end and stuck it in the hole to fish out the toys. I rescued Snow White, but Belle I couldn't find.) I don't know why I can't let this go.
So I tried on Tuesday with the hangers again but failed. So I get this stupidest idea I have ever had. I put my vaccuum hose in the hole and stuck it way in there, turned on the machine, but I couldn't find the toy. So I turned it off and tried to pull the hose out. IT GOT STUCK!! The hole faces the back of the bathroom tub so the end of my hose was stuck there under the tub. I panicked! I had to get my hose out! I have to cut the wall more! Oh my god! Why didn't I go shopping!!!??? I go in the kitchen and grab my super knife I bought last year and start sawing away at the wall. The girls stopped playing and came and watched in horror as I hacked away. I felt so bad. I ended up cutting a long gap about 2 feet long and about a few inches wide down enough so I could reach my arm in there and get the hose out. I have to say the knife cut through the wall like butter! Darren wasn't too impressed with me. Erika asked me, "Mommy, why you cut a hole in my wall?" Then I felt REALLY BAD! I think I need a job.

Let's go Oilers, Let's go!!

Well, haven't written in a while. Not much new going on I guess. BUT OILERS HOCKEY STARTS TONIGHT!! I am a little excited I have to admit. Not a huge hockey fan but I enjoy watching Oilers play. Another good thing about hockey starting is actually getting out of the house and going to friends houses to watch the games. I'm a bit sad however that Ryan Smyth is gone. There are so many new players now so I don't even know who anyone is. I am sure Darren hates that because I am always asking him questions while he's watching like "Who is he? What team did he come from? How old is he?" That probably drives him!

Horcoff is still there which is good because I have liked him from the start. So ya, busy night for tv tonight. Survivor and hockey! Good thing hockey starts after Survivor or we'd be fighting for the remote! Anyways....Chow for now!

He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late."- Jack Handy

Big Brother 8

So Dick won. I have to say I am not surprised though. He is the type of guy that one minute you would love and the next completely hate. At first I hated this guy. I thought he was such a jerk, but then after a few weeks of getting used to his tactics I enjoyed watching him stir up and cause shit with every person in the house. He wore a t-shirt that said "I'm mean because you're stupid." I totally love that! I have to find a shirt like that! So that's the end of another big brother. BUT TONIGHT SURVIVOR STARTS!!!!!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!

No More 20s

Well it's 7:30 am and I thought I would sneak onto the computer and write a new post while the midgets are still in slumber land. I do better with no distractions.
Anyways, yesterday was my 30th birthday. Didn't do anything. Got some awesome candles from my mom. (I LOVE CANDLES !!!!!) Didn't get anything from Darren only because I told him not to get me anything. I went on a little spending spree at Marks Work Warehouse last week so I told him that was my present. I guess I am feeling a little older now. Oh well.
Tonight we are having a little party, fire, drinks, and who knows what kind of shinanigans will occur. Then tomorrow we have a wedding in Edmonton. Sunday is Darren's mom's birthday so we are going there for the afternoon, which isn't a big deal because they live like right next door to us. Haven't gotten her a present yet so that is also on the agenda for Saturday. She has got to be the hardest person to buy for. SHE DOESN'T LIKE ANYTHING!
So yea, we have a pretty busy weekend ahead of us. Chow for now!

Big Brother Rant

Well I have to say I hope Amber gets voted out on Thursday. Next week Jameka should go too. I am not a big religious person so when those two get together and just start praying and talking to God to help them get further in the game it drives me. It is kind of funny though when they do start praying and talking about God and the show plays church music in the background. And okay, pray if you want, for strength or whatever, to keep you sane while you are still in the house, but as if God has any control over who wins a reality tv show, and I don't think that would be on the top of his list either. I don't know. Maybe it's just me.

Here is Annika in her new room just after I finished moving her bed. She was so excited! Happier than a pig in you know what. We recently have added some new pictures on her walls. Next I would like to put up some kind of border along the upper part of the wall. All in time.

Well I finally got some pics developed. It only took a few months. Here are the girls when they turned 3 years old. I took these in the bush by our house. Erika is in pink/Annika in blue.

4 years!

Well yesterday started like any other day. Gave the girls their breakfast, get a cup of coffee, and sit down at the computer and check my email. There is this email from Crystal saying 'Happy Anniversary'. If anyone knows me well things tend to take a while to click in, so I am thinking "Happy Anniversary? Oh my god, what day is it?!" Sure enough, it's August 23rd. Ya, I admit it I totally forgot. It was written on my calendar but all week I have been looking past that day to Saturday when our Co-op bill was due and worrying about money, like anyone in this world. So ya, thanks Crys! I phoned Darren at work pronto and asked him what day it was. He knew. Damn!
So the girls and I went shopping to good ol Walmart for a few things for camping this weekend. We then went out for lunch at McDonalds. So that was my meal out. Last night we just ordered in a movie. Nothing too exciting.
We ordered The Number 23 with Jim Carrey. It was alright. I thought it would have been better. It gets you thinking about 23 though. Then it dawned on me while watching the movie and I said, "Oh my god. We are watching The Number 23 on the 23rd!" Too weird.

Retired

Well my dad is officially retired now! I am so happy for him! It's funny, whenever my mom tells someone that they ask right away, "Oh so are you going on a trip?" My parents are totally not like that. My dad just can't wait to spend as much time as he can at the cabin I think. He would live there if he could. He and his two brothers own a lakefront cabin at Pigeon Lake which has been in the family forever. It's just a quaint little cabin but what more do ya need? There are huge cabins (they could be houses) being built all around ours. I hate it.
Anyways, so mom is always saying, "I don't know what he is going to do with all this time now. But he is not going to stop me from going to Bingo." I told her she is going to have to start taking him with her. I think it would be weird to have your husband home all the time. I think she will be going to Bingo more often now.

One book done

Well, I did it! I finally finished 'The Nanny Diaries'. Darren was on holidays this past week so we went and spent the week at the cabin. Sooo relaxing! We were going to go to Jasper but decided it would cost way too much money. For us to spend 4 nights there it would cost us almost $200 just for the fee to be in the park per day and the camping. I think if you are camping in the park you shouldn't have to pay the stupid fee. Or give a percentage off at least. Sheesh.
Anyways, so I finished the book while having coffee one morning in the trailer. I thought it was alright. Some funny parts. And I can relate to how Nanny feels. Having spent a number of years working in a daycare I did feel sometimes that I took better care of some kids than their own parents did.
So anyways, I am now reading another book, from Tawnja again, called 'Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold. It's about a girl that got murdered and she is telling her story from heaven, how she got murdered and such. So far it's pretty good. Thanks again Tawnj! Let's see how long it takes me to read this one.

Spam!!!

Okay, so I get a comment on my last post from someone called knicksgrl0917 promoting some website called huntington car.com. It's some website that you can answer surveys and make money. This is the second time I have gotten some advertising shit on my blog. I think if this keeps up I might stop this whole thing. That's just too creepy.

More Hodge Podge

Well Darren has started with the powder coating business. He is coating Shayne's (a friend of ours) work trailer. He sand blasted it on Wednesday which took him all day, and 22 bags of sand, he was absolutely filthy. Thursday he started to put the first coat on while I packed the trailer to go camping. We were planning on leaving that afternoon around 4:00 or so.
I get a phone call at 2:00pm from the doctor I took the girls to on Monday and she said that Annika's test shows that she has bladder infection too and that she would phone the pharmacy and have the prescription ready for me. So okay, I stupidly assumed that she would have done that as soon as she hung up the phone. So I get ready to go, interrupt Darren so he can watch the girls while I run to town thinking I would only be about 20 min. I get to the pharmacy and the pharmacist (Donna) says she didn't get any phone call from the doctor.
I then go to the doctor's office to find out what the hell is going on and she is in with a patient. I waited 20 min. there and then she finally came out and says, "Oh you're fast." Fast!!!??? Just to recap, this was 40 min after she phoned me! Whatever! So she writes the prescription, I thank her and get the hell outta there, head over to the pharmacy, AGAIN, get to the desk and a chick behind the counter says Donna is on lunch. WHAT THE F**K! So I slap the prescription down and tell her to tell Donna to phone me when it's ready. I get home and apologize to Darren for delaying him from getting his work done, and continue packing. I finally get the phone call around 4:00 that her medicine is ready to pick up. What a GONG SHOW! I was so mad I could spit fire.
We finally ended up leaving to go camping around 5:30pm and Darren didn't end up finishing his first coat. But the camping trip was good. Found an awesome spot by Cadomin (south of Hinton) right by the river. Went for a drive around there and found a spot by a coal mine that has hundreds of Big Horn sheep. It was pretty cool to see so many in one area. The area they are in is protected meaning no one can hunt there so that's why there is so many. Smart animals.
I will post pics when I get them developed. I still haven't gotten the girls 3rd birthday pics developed yet. I think I need a digital camera.
Chow!

Monday, July 23, 2007

Well our weekend was a bit eventfull. Saturday night we went to our friends' 25th anniversary party a little west of the Gennesee power plant. We took our trailer so we could put the midgets to bed, and so we could drink too of course. Stayed up way too late! Didn't go to bed until 3:00am and was up at 7:15 cause of the girls waking up. But I managed to get them to sleep for another hour thank god.
Sunday was Trev's (my brother) 33rd bday. Went to their place for a BBQ. Was a bit tired and hungover. Had lots of salads and desserts which were awesome! Good job Cordell and Tawnja! Yummmmmmmy! Thanks for having us over!
Today took Erika to the new doctor in town (she is an awesome doctor, just what our town needed!) and she (just as I suspected) has bladder infection. Thursday morning she went to pee and she complained it hurt her but she never said anything like that since, but since then she has been trying to hold in her pee because it hurt (which caused her to have accidents ). Poor thing. So she is on drugs which is good because we are heading out this Friday to go camping for the weekend. I am glad I got her looked at today.
Our town hasn't had a clinic in it for years. Their pediatrician is in Edmonton but that is just so inconvenient for us because it's such a far drive. I think this clinic will do quite well.

First Night

Well Annika's first night in her own room went very good. She was thanking me all afternoon yesterday saying, "Thanks mom for my new room!" She is so excited! We read our bedtime stories on Annika's bed which was nice. It took the girls a while to fall asleep though last night so I had to rub them to sleep. I don't blame them. I think with Annika it was just so exciting that she couldn't sleep. With Erika I think with Annika out of their room she might be feeling a bit lonely.
This morning our alarm didn't come on but the girls were up and playing at 7:15 which woke me up in turn I then woke Darren up(he was a little late). When the girls heard us talking they came running in our room and Annika said, "Daddy do you want to see my new room?! I will show you! Come on!" So she takes off running to her room with daddy following and when they got there she said, "Ta da!!" It was the cutest thing!
I am trying not to make too much of a big deal of it though because whenever I do say something about 'Annika's new room' Erika right away comes to me and talks about her room, so I also have to get excited about Erika having her own room too. I don't know if I am being weird but I don't want her to be left out.
They have tons of room to play now between the two rooms which is also a bonus!
But here is a lesson I have learned. I should have split them up to their own rooms sooner. I hope they can go to sleep on their own tonight.
Darren wasn't mad at all. I think he understands why I did this. And now when Erika feels the need to get up at 3 in the morning and play, when she isn't supposed to, hopefully she won't wake up Annika.

Annika's new room

Well today was a big change in this house. Annika got her own room!

It all started around 3:00am today. I don't know why I woke up but I did and noticed a light on down the other end of the house. I got up and saw that it was the girls light on and they were sleeping. I knew right away that it was Erika. So I shut off the light and go back to sleep, get a couple more hours in, and at 5:00am I hear Erika yapping away. So I get up again, go to their room, the light is on again, Erika is up playing, Annika is just sitting in her bed in a tired daze. I lay them both down, go to the breaker box and shut off the switch to their room, and get back into bed.

Minutes later I hear 'click click click click........Whahhhhhhhh!' Erika was trying to turn on her light and got right pissed that it wouldn't turn on. So I ended up just bringing her to bed with me so we could all get back to sleep.

Well, after breakfast I started taking everything out of the computer room to make it into Annika's own room. I hope Darren doesn't kill me. I have mentioned to him that I wanted to do this long ago but he was dead against the computer being in the living room. (not sure why. maybe he likes to look at some websites I wouldn't approve of. (ha ha) I don't know.) So I got everything cleaned up in there and put her bed in and some toys and books, it looks so cute! (Crystal, I put the picture of the Care Bear you made for her up in her room too!)

When I was done I carried Annika into her room as I covered her eyes and when we got in I counted to three and uncovered her eyes. She was quiet for a few seconds, she probably didn't know what the hell her bed was doing in the computer room, and after I explained this was her own room she got pretty excited. She started taking books off her shelf and took them to her bed to look at them. I took a pic which I will post in this when I get them developed. I feel pretty good now.

Exept our living room is a bit crowded. All I can think of is "Where are we going to put the Christmas tree?"

Fit Hits The Shan

When will this freakin' heat end???!!! I am so tired of these 30 above temperatures. And now the humidity is so bad the weather people have a humidity factor so it makes the temperature feel more like 35 degrees. We are in Alberta people!! We aren't used to this! If I wanted to sweat it out every day in this weather I would go to B.C. .... or Mexico! At least there are nice lakes and such in those places that you can hop into. Here we have Wizard or Pigeon Lake (yay). Pigeon Lake had such bad algae blooms last year because of a bunch of factors (hasn't happened yet this year that I have heard of) and now in front of our cabin it is so thick with floating weeds and hives it looks like soup. Yummmo!
Anyways, I have to share what happened yesterday afternoon. Around 4:30pm I am happy watching my Young and the Restless, the girls are quietly playing in their bedroom, and I hear this huge crash. We live in a mobile home and the builders use the cheapest shelving they could possibly scrounge up (the wire shit). 4 of these shelves have fallen down in this house so far.
Anyways, this time it was the closet shelf. I blame it on me hanging one of Darren's heavy ass coats from it a few days ago. I open the door and there is crap everywhere! I had 2 little pots with dirt in them that got dumped all over everything.
So while I am cleaning this up Erika is in the kitchen (she had pulled a chair up to the stove) pouring salt and pepper out of the shakers into a neat little pile on a baking sheet I had sitting there from lunch. And Annika is at the other end of the house in their room shitting in her panties (which happened 3 times yesterday. That will be another rant another day I am sure).
All hell has to break loose all at once in this house. Days like these make me think I am definately not having any more kids. Two is enough for me!

Walmart Blues

Good morning! Well I am sitting here today at my computer drinking hot coffee when it's probably already 20 degrees outside already. It is supposed to reach 34 degrees today. Way too frickin hot for me I tell ya. I can't function with this heat. Darren came home the other night with a ceiling fan for the living room (that he bought for $200!!!) I thought that was a little too much to spend. But it is making a difference.
Now the girls and I have to get ready soon to head to Walmart before the temperature gets too crazy. Yay for me!! I am starting to hate that store. They have maybe 3 tills open and there are 15 or 16 fickin tills just sitting there empty. So the line ups sometimes reach as far as the dairy section. I just don't know. Is this problem in every Walmart out there? When I think of going there I just feel all panicky and my stomach gets upset. I just hate shopping all together. I got this way when the girls were born. Shopping is a little more time consuming when you got two kids in tow. I used to work in a daycare and I would get these moms that would drop their kids off for a couple hours about twice a week so she can go shopping. I used to always complain about this because I couldn't understand why she would do this. Well now being a mom, I can relate. It is a little easier to shop without the girls, which never happens with me, but thankfully they are excellent shoppers. They are so good in a store (knock on wood!). So I guess I better get my ass moving. Chow for now!

Boob Tube

Well I have a confession to make. I haven't touched the book I have been reading since my last post. I don't know what the hell happened there. I was doing so good. I think I have to blame it on TV. I've got to tune in to The Young and the Restless everyday of course. I have been hooked on that soap since I have been a teen. My mom has been watching it since God knows when. Probably before I was born. I've tried watching other soaps but they just seem so....well....stupid is a good word I guess, and fake.

Monday nights are for Hell's Kitchen. LOVE LOVE LOVE that show!! I love to watch cooking shows and I started watching this show on the Food Network last year and they didn't cut out Chef Gordon Ramsay's swearing, which f**n happens every f**n second word that f**n comes out of his f**n mouth, but it makes the show even
better I think. I just use the F word way too often as well, so I think I can relate to why he swears so much. I watch it on City TV now and they cut out the swearing. Oh well, anyways, if you haven't seen it it's worth giving it a shot. Every episode when he gives someone the boot he says, "Get the f**k out!" It's pretty funny! He also has another show on the Food Network called Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. He helps little restaurants that are going under by changing the menus, working with the staff and owners, and in the end turn it right around to a bustling restaurant. But it's on at 11:00pm. So yea I am tired today. For an old guy too I think he is a little sexy!

Now Thursdays and Sundays Big Brother 8 is on. Haven't watched this show for a couple years so I thought I would watch it this time. Thursdays are also for Pirate Master. (have you figured out by now that I like to watch reality TV?)

Okay so that leaves Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I guess I could try to read those nights. For some reason right now I can't think of anything that is on those nights. Drawing a blank here!! Weekends are a write-off. There is always something going on.

I think I am done rambling now. So I guess tonight I am reading the book.........if there is nothing on the boob tube! Now f**k off!!

Hmm...What to do...

Well, the sun finally was out today. Had the girls try out their new slip n slide they got for their birthday. They had a blast! Forgot to take pictures though. :( Oh well, next time I guess.

I have been missing my favorite tv shows lately. THERE IS NOTHING ON! However I do love the new show Pirate Master created by Mark Burnett (same guy that created Survivor. Another show I love!) Anyways, I think this show is awesome the way they have to actually sail the ship, keep the treasure they find, and when the person that gets voted off at the end of every show they are sent adrift on a piece of floating wood with a lantern. It's pretty funny. I think I am going to start watching Big Brother as well. I watched the first few seasons of it and kind of just stopped watching it. But I think I will give it a try this year.

I am trying to actually read a book. I haven't read a book since the girls have been born. We collect and read Terry Brooks books. Darren is into them more than I am, but they are pretty cool books. If you like Lord of the Rings then you will like his stuff.

But I am reading a book right now called 'The Nanny Diaries' by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus that my sister-in-law Tawnja recommended, and borrowed to me. Thank you Tawnja! So far it's good. I was a nanny for a year for an awesome family in Calmar. It was nothing compared to what this chick goes through. She is a nanny for a rich family in New York and the crap she has to deal with....I think I would have walked away day one! Then on top of that she catches the husband cheating with another woman! That's as far as I have gotten so far.

So my summer resolution is to READ MORE BOOKS! If anyone has any names of other good books you liked shout them out to me. I am always up for new books to read. Chow!

3rd Birthday

So we had the girls 3rd birthday party yesterday afternoon. (actual bday is Wednesday) Mom, dad, mom Olson, dad Olson, Trev and Tawnja with kids, Heather and Derek with kids, Shayne and Erin, Wendy with kids, all came. The girls had a blast and got all sorts of awesome stuff! They each had their own cake this year again. I took them to Walmart last week and let them pick what flavor cake mix they wanted for their birthday cakes. Annika picked chocolate and Erika picked rainbow bits. YUMMY! We also got a heck of a lot of mosquito bites. Man there were lots out! The girls have been itching like crazy.
I have been itching lately to go camping! We haven't gone yet this year. We usually go every May long to kick off the summer but decided not to go anywhere this year. The weather was bad and the price of gas is way to high. This is my second time not going May long weekend since I have been 17 years old. It felt a little weird to stay home.
We have decided not to buy any land now. We thought about it and thought about it and our payment would be sky high if we were to do it now (with our mortgage we already are paying, our LOC, and truck payment). It would be nice to have our own property but I guess it can wait a little longer.

Big hoax!

Well it has come to my attention from a nameless source and from a friend of my cousin that the Keith Urban thing was a big hoax. Here is the link to check it out.
I am relieved that it isn't true. I do really like his music. I couldn't understand why he would say such a thing. It sure wouldn't help is career out any. I guess this came out a year ago. Well I just got it a couple days ago so there. And yes I am very naive. I fall for every joke played on me every April Fools day. I even fell for a joke I heard on the radio a few years ago. It said that a new law was coming out that would make smoking in your vehicle illegal because it is a distraction and causes accidents. The cops were going to have a special machine in their cars that had some kind of sensor that when pointed at another vehicle, they can tell if you are smoking in your car or not. Me being a non-smoker thought "What a good idea!" I always see people distracted when driving and trying to light their cancer sticks. Ya.....duh!! It was a JOKE! Whatever.

Keith Urban said What!!!!????

Before I leave my blog for the day I have to say this: I used to like Keith Urban until I got this email:

NO MORE KEITH URBAN (OR GARTH BROOKS) Keith Urban - WHAT a Jerk!

This big shot western singer asked all Canadians to stand up at the Minot (N.D.) Fair. After the Canadians stood up, he asked them all to leave the stands before he would sing because they were not helping out fighting with USA troops. He is a New Zealander by birth (1967),then grew up in Australia (from 1969) and finally in 1992 moving and living in Nashville, becoming another imported, brainwashed Yankee. Pass this around and see how his record sales do in Canada. Also, Garth Brooks donated 1 million to keep Canadian cattle out of the USA. I guess this helps in confirming that many Americans are ignorant to any other humans in the world - other than themselves. Just recently 8 Canadian Soldiers died after yet another American mistake. Please pass this on . . . to other Canadians.

You know this just pisses me off! I just can't believe they would do such a thing. And I still get mad about how Americans treated the Dixie Chicks after Natalie said at a concert about Bush that she is embarassed about being from the same state as him(I would be too). So what! Who cares! People are allowed to say whatever the hell they want nowadays about anything! It's called FREEDOM OF SPEECH! Here in Canada, we make fun of our prime minister everyday and no one gets mad about it! No one sends eachother death threats! They are just people's opinions! Hello people! They are just words! Lighten up! Where is the sense of humor?! Next issue!!:

GO SENS GO!!!!!!!!

Starting Monday!!I hope they kick Anaheim's ass! (I just don't want to see Pronger with the Stanley Cup.) It sucks Edmonton didn't make it far this year but there is always next season! Chow!

Friends helping friends

So our friendly neighbour tilled our garden last night with his tractor so today I planted some veggies, while it was SNOWING! More like some flurries I guess. But still. It was frickin' cold!! Darren has to plant the potatoes.
Darren has been helping friends of ours move and they had some stuff to get rid of so he went with them last night and brought it here to burn in the middle of the yard. Yea we're rednecks! Did I mention there was a couch in there? Anyways, they burned everything else first then threw the couch on for the grand finale. I didn't expect the thing to be engulfed in flames in seconds! We all stood back and laughed our asses off (I was laughing mainly because I was nervous. I do that when I get nervous, not sure why. It doesn't help when I am in a sticky situation and trying to be serious. Especially when a cop pulls me over after leaving a house party and finds an open liquor container under the seat eh Tawnja! I didn't have to sit too long in the back of the cop car thank god!) Anyways.... I regress. The fire was HUGE! I just couldn't believe how fast it lit up. Now I see how a house can burn down if the fire starts on furniture or something. There was our entertainment for last night.

Well it has been a while since my last post. I just haven't been getting around to doing it, not sure why. Well I guess there just isn't much new here. Been busy with some flower gardening which is awesome! I could fiddle around in the flower beds all day if it were possible. But when ya got two midgets to watch and chase around I am lucky if I get 5 minutes at a time. They have the tendancy to wander into the bush, and when this happens I have to yell "Watch out for the coyotes!!" and then I howl sometimes. That makes them come out a little faster.
Darren has started a business with another guy he works with. It's to do with powder coating. Their business is called Redneck Coatings LTD. Their website is : redneckcoatings.com. Not sure if it is quite set up yet though. They already have a couple people wanting them to do jobs for them, but they can't do anything until they get their machine (which should be coming soon). Darren is so excited! I haven't seen him this excited in a long time. We are hoping to put the money he makes from these extra jobs into our truck loan. Man if we could get that paid off that would be awesome! Then our line of credit and after that our mortgage!
I wish I could help by making money somehow but the cost of daycare........and I would just be working to pay for the childcare. What's the point. Oh well. Anyways, I am hoping this business really takes off for them.
Nothing really new with the girls. They turn 3 on the 30th. So the big bday will be on the 27th. Can't wait! That's it for now! Chow!

Carriers Shmarriers

I feel another rant coming on! Okay, I am a subscriber to Canadian Today's Parent magazine. I also subscribe to Canadian Family. I like these magazines a lot, mainly because they are Canadian and usually have very informative articles in them. I have the May issue for the Today's Parent and in it is an article on overusage of strollers now a days. She starts off saying that she isn't anti-stroller but then carries on about how we are over using them. She says that she would rather see children on their parents lap, in their arms, or holding their hands. Obviously she hasn't had twins!! She also says that slings, backpacks, and strap-on-front-carriers are better ways to tote the young ones around. Okay, I am not carrying my kids around in carriers. I think strollers are the best thing for kids/babies. She says "strollers promote distance (between kid and parent), not closeness." I think kids don't need to be touched and handled all day long. If your kid can't handle time in a stroller then something is wrong there. I totally doubt it that if you use a stroller over a carrier that it will affect how your child turns out in the end. In my opinion a carrier spoils kids if they are overused. SO THERE! Then she says that malls are the perfect place for toddlers to "toddle" around and explore instead of being in a stroller. I don't think she has been to West Edmonton Mall. I am not going to let my kids just roam wherever they choose there. They are definately in their stroller when we go there that's for sure. I think maybe a PARK would be a better option anyways to let them explore. Not a stuffy mall. I don't know. Maybe it's just me. The picture above is the girls when they were a little over a year old and we were camping at Big Horn Dam. They spent a lot of time in their stroller and in their Super Gate growing up and they turned out better than fine.

Bye Bye Mommy Time

Well let's see. Not much new lately. I have lost 'mommy time' which I am missing soooooo much. My 'mommy time' was when the girls take their daily nap for the afternoon. It's week three that I have taken this nap away. It seems they are in between needing this nap and not needing it. I was waking them up after an hour but they still wouldn't go to bed at night without me going into their bedroom a thousand times telling them "GET TO SLEEP!!!" ........and pulling my hair out. Now without a nap they go to bed pretty good. Most of the time they are asleep in 5 minutes. Awesome! I do let them nap Friday and Saturdays so we can go out and they can then stay up a little later. It's been working pretty good but I will say it again, I miss their naps!! It was so nice to have even that hour to myself just to do whatever. Oh well. Ahh the sacrifices we make. ha ha
The egg in our vents hasn't been smelling at all. That's really good news!
Darren finally replaced the bathroom door knob with a new one. (the other one always locked on ya. It took a friend to get locked in the bathroom with her daughter a couple weekends ago to get it done.)
The weather has finally smartened up. Had snow a few days ago, which has all melted now. Today is an awesome sunny day!!
Went to a Partylite party at my sister-in-law's (Wendy) house yesterday. Spent too much money which the hubby doesn't neet to know about. I go crazy over that stuff!
And that's about it for now! Chow!

Saturday morning

Ahhh, Saturday morning. The smell of eggs cooking.....wait a minute. Eggs cooking!?? I'm not cooking eggs.
Well the egg in our vents is starting to smell. I actually forgot all about it. I can smell it faintly in the air and I was wondering why. So far it smells good. It just smells like someone is frying up an egg on the stove. I can live with that. I just hope it doesn't start stinking!!

What's that smell?

OMG!! Well in about a few weeks our house is going to wreak of rotten eggs! The girls have this habit of taking off the vent covers and playing with them. They have put balls down them a couple times. Well today we were decorating eggs. We were going to dye our last egg when I told Annika to get it off the kitchen table and bring it to me. Well she dropped it and the son of a bitch rolled under the table and straight down into the heat duct! We tried sticking the vaccuum hose down in there but we couldn't reach it. God only knows where that thing is. I was furious at Annika and yelled at her, which I regret now. But she got over it in a hurry thankfully. I know it wasn't her fault and that she didn't mean for that to happen. So know I don't know what to do. If anyone has any ideas please throw them out to me. I am thinking of calling a duct cleaning place this week and see if they can maybe find it and get it out. I don't know. Only me this would happen to. As my auntie Carol says, " If I didn't have bad luck I would have no luck at all." Anyways, HAPPY EASTER!!

Well I don't think we have to worry about the rabbit (Peter) anymore. Dale and Darren saw a dead rabbit on the side of the road. (No the rabbit above is not Peter. Got it from an email and thought it fit my post. )Anyways, they figure our neighbours dogs got it. Poor thing. I feel kind of bad now for it. I even thought it was kind of cute the way he played with our farm cats. One night a little cat named Bear was sitting on the girls sleigh and Peter was hopping around the sleigh in circles playing with Bear. It was so cute. I would even talk to the girls about Peter whenever he would come into our yard and say things like "Maybe he's the Easter bunny and he will bring you treats on Easter." Oh well, it's probably for the best. Our neighbour, the one with the dogs, has about 30 around his yard I guess. So I am sure one of them will saunter their way into our yard too sooner or later. I prefer later.
Darren's 29th birthday was yesterday. We had his dad(his mom was working) and my parents over for supper and cake. Nothing too major.
It has been snowing lightly for a couple days now. I went from raking leaves one day to shoveling snow the next. Gotta love Alberta!

What!!??

You know what really chaps my ass?! So I was watching the Global National last night and there was a story on there that just pissed me off. There is a college in Ontario (I think) where some trans-genders attend and they want a bathroom on every floor of the building for trans-genders only. They don't feel comfortable going into a strictly male or female bathroom. I guess they consider themselves neither! So the school is considering turning the bathroom on the main floor, that is made for disabled people in wheelchairs and whatnot, into a trans-gender washroom. OMG!! Let me just say: How wrong is that! You know, when is it going to stop? Or better yet, why stop there? Should we consider making seperate washrooms for every different religion!? Why stop there!? Why not make a washroom for left handed people and another for right handed people? They have rights too don't you think?
You know, I can accept that if people are trans-gender and gay, that's okay to me because it's not my life. But why do they keep challenging everything and causing so much shit? It seems they are never happy. I think they like to stand out and cause a bunch of attention for themselves because they aren't happy. I don't know. Maybe it's just me. Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Just tryin to post pics. Here is a pic from Christmas of Erika (in pink) and Annika by our tree.

Spring

Ahh spring! The birds are singing, the cats are out sunning themselves on the deck, the kids are playing outside. The snow is melting, revealing the toys that didn't get put away in the fall before the snow flew, revealing all the leaves that need to be raked, revealing......PIG LEGS!!! Ah yes, that is a ritual 'round these here parts. Teddy has been quite busy this winter burying his treats. Oh, and a deer leg. Yes that was special.
But really I am quite excited about spring. Can't wait until we can pull the holiday trailer up to the house so we can clean it and get it up and running!! The girls can't wait to go camping. Neither can I! It's so nice to be able to get away from it all. And I mean ALL!!

Oooooh That Wascally Wabbit

So we got this wild rabbit that's been around since fall I think. Dale, the father in law, has fallen in love with this thing. He keeps saying he saw it here or saw it there. I really couldn't give a s**t. All I say to him is that it's going to eat our garden and my flowers this summer. So in other words it's going to be a major pain in the ass for ME! He figures it won't bother my stuff because it's tame, and he KNOWS it's tame because of it's colors. Well, I was sitting in my chair last night watching tv and from there I have plain view of my flower bed. My perennials are already starting to get new leaves and stuff. So here comes Peter Cottontail from around the shed and he goes straight to the flower bed and starts munching away. So I go out and I am yelling at him to shoo and he won't budge. So I get my boots on and tromp over to a golf club of the girls that was laying on the lawn and throw the thing at the rabbit. He takes off. I go in the house and sit back down. I just get into my show and here he comes again. Well I went back out there and start chasing the thing, since I couldn't find anything else to throw at him, and he takes off again. I go in the house again, sit back down, and guess who!! The nerve of this vermon. Then the farm cats start playing with him. (Obviously Peter made some friends while at his stay here) I gave up. I didn't get up from my chair. Today I told Dale about this and he didn't belive me. He said they will only eat green stuff. Oh like flowers and gardens!! Darren says he is going to shoot it. I feel a family feud coming on.

LIFE

You know I feel kind of silly for ranting about money yesterday when there are people out there dealing with things much greater. My Uncle Harry, from the island, passed away a couple days ago from a blood disease. I can only imaging what his family is going through. His wife, my mom's sister, Gladys lost her husband, the love of her life. His children lost their father. It is just so sad. It sure gets you thinking about your life and the people in it.
It also reminds me of what everyone went through when Baba passed away. The waiting and hoping she would pass quickly and pain-free. I think about her everyday. Her sayings and her laugh. How I used to walk quite often to her apartment from school to go for lunch. I wish she could have seen the girls. I know my mom misses her very much.
I think of grandpa. How he used to tell stories of when he was young and when dad, uncle Allan, and uncle Neil were young. I think of how I should have paid more attention to those stories.
So I am hoping auntie Gladys, Bonnie, Patty, Chris and Terry are doing okay. The memorial is Wednesday. I am hoping mom and dad go and see them this summer and catch up. I am sure auntie would love that.

Starting Over

Well here I go again. My other blog got wiped out somehow so I have started another. Hope I have better luck with this.
So Darren has been gone on a business trip to Reno since the 8th. He will be back home Tuesday 20th. They are setting up for a trade show, which started today, and they are working their asses off. I am counting the days until he gets home, and I think the girls miss him too. We call him every night to say goodnight. The girls talk to him on the phone a little and it brings tears to my eyes. I have to sit next to whoever is talking to Darren and coach them on talking on the phone. I can hear what Darren is saying, and whenever he asks them a question they nod instead of saying out loud "yes". So I have to tell them to say yes. Erika says "Yup". Last night Erika said "I love you daddy". I wouldn't be surprised if Darren got teary over that one.
Got a haircut today. That's a big thing for me. My last haircut was back in August. I only go about twice a year. My hair was pretty shaggy I tell ya. So I decided to get my hair cut in layers, colored and highlighted as well. Turned out pretty nice. So I go to pay and I ask, "How much do I owe ya?"
$95!!!!!!!????? Oh My Gosh!!!!
Ya this won't be happening again any time soon!
