So another Christmas come and gone. It was a pretty good one I have to say! It was our turn to have Christmas Eve this year so we had our family over for some drinks and snacks. I'm glad everyone came out and braved the cold weather.
Darren was pretty good to me; meaning he DIDN'T get me a case of beer or a Polly Pocket. He got me an awesome pink robe which is so soft, an ipod nano, deep fryer, perfume, and new phones for the house. The girls got spoiled of course. Their favorite toys are the new Diamond of the Castle Barbies. Erika is loving her High School Musical movie. They watched it probably 5 times today alone!
And oh!!! Oh oh oh!!! Remember about our dead tree? Well the night before Christmas Eve Darren went out after work and picked up an artificial for me!!! I think I'm spoiled!! I was so happy! I was up till 1:00am decorating it that night. It is beautiful!! I love having a real tree but I think those days are done for me. No more needles on the floor, no more worrying about if it has water or not, it's prelit so no more fiddling with strings of lights, yadda yadda yadda..!
So yes, it was an awesome Christmas!!

Latest News

Well Tigger has done it again. Donna got to work this morning (in Calmar) and when she got out of her vehicle she saw Tigger sitting there on her roof. I don't know why she didn't jump off as soon as Donna started her car!! So Darren had to go pick Tigger up and bring her home before he went to work. I checked on her this afternoon and her ears are all pink, swollen, and seeping clear fluid. I think she may loose both her ears! Poor thing! I can't believe she went for a ride on a vehicle again!
So we are all ready and anxious for Christmas! Yay! Just one thing though, our tree is DEAD! Last weekend it stopped drinking water. So now it's so dried up I don't even want to turn the lights on. It's really depressing! I am debating if we should run in tomorrow and pick up an artificial tree. We may get a deal which would be good! We'll see.

Cold, So Cold

Well it was an interesting weekend. Saturday morning the power goes off a little after 11:00am. The girls had their first drop-off birthday party at 1:00 so we just went to mom's a little before that to hang out in a WARM house. Took the girls to their party and came back to mom's to visit with Auntie Maxine, Martie, and Richard. It was so nice to see them! It's been too long! Later on after they left I had to pick the girls up from their party and take them to mom and dad's because Darren's work Christmas party was that night. So I drop them off and head home to see if we have power; this was about 4:00pm. Got home and the power had just turned back on and the house was FREEZING! Hurry and change; get out the door and head to Edmonton for the party; which was also FREEZING in there all night. There were awesome snacks and the meal was SO good. They had a slide show of all the people working there of pictures of when they were young and pictures of them now. That was cool. The bosses bought gifts for all the employees kids and also handed out shirts and wicked backpacks for everyone.
After 3 coffees (which I thought would warm me up; not a chance) and lots of visiting we decide to take off and we (us and Trev and Krista) then went to Boston Pizza for a couple drinks and watch the rest of the hockey game. It was so warm in there!!! Ahhh!! So it's about 10:30, we then head out for home; but first we had to pick up the kids from mom's. Get there, wake them up, take them home and tuck them into bed, and we retire ourselves.
Sunday morning wake up at 8:30am with NO POWER AGAIN! Darren's mom said it's been off way before 6:00am. The house is freezing again. Annika got up and we basically just sat on the couch and covered up with blankets to try to stay warm. Erika slept and slept, which was good because I knew if she stayed sleeping in bed then she'll stay warm. Sat and sat and sat and sat. 10:10am the power comes back on!! Yay!!! It was funny because then Erika got up, like she knew. The furnace ran for a little over an hour to try to get the house warm again.
So we carry on normally; have lunch a little later, then get the girls ready for their Christmas concert! They did just fine; I was a little disappointed they didn't say their lines, sing, or even face the crowd(Erika), but hey, they did stand on stage at least and I am proud of them for that. There were a lot of people there.
So yea, busy weekend, glad it's over, and now time to do some last minute panicking for Christmas!! AAAAAHHH! I am usually done way before this time of year. I don't know what's wrong with me this year! There are gifts to buy and I have to try to go see my grandma for a way overdue visit. Oh boy.
Anyways, wish me luck!!

Surprise in the Rearview Mirror

So this morning the girls and I were heading out to go to Pam's for coffee. As we were in the garage and loading into the van I noticed a cat running along the roof of the van. So I get in and start it up, back out of the garage, and before taking off I stop to fiddle around with the iPod before getting onto the road. I figure the cat is long gone so we take off. As we take off onto the highway and I get up some speed I notice in the rearview mirror a cat fall down off the back of the van and onto the road. Well, holy shit! I watch as it does a couple flips and then she just sat there. I slammed on the brakes and whipped a shitty in the middle of the road and headed back to her as fast as I could and noticed some trucks coming. Thank god she ran off the road and went into the ditch. I pulled up to her and noticed it was Tigger, one of my favorite cats on the farm. I got out and grabbed her and took her back to the yard a 1/2 mile away. She was all wet and dirty from the road, I couldn't tell where or if she was hurt. I get her home and into the garage to lay her down on some coveralls and notice her favoring one of her back legs. So I left her alone and headed back out to our coffee date. We checked on her when we got back home and it turns out she is fine. Yay!
What a morning!

Confused

Okay. I'm not too into politics, don't really know much about it. I voted for Progressive Conservative, I'll admit it. But I am wondering why do we even vote in this country if our votes can be pretty much overruled?! I don't get it! It's pretty apparent who Canada wants to be Prime Minister, it shows in our votes. So why doesn't that matter? Why can't it just be left at that? Hey Liberals! WE DON'T WANT YOU!!!!! And that other stupid french party, I don't even want to go there. I just don't understand why our voices don't matter. And from what I hear I don't think I would want to live in Alberta if those dicks take over. Nuf said.

So True, So True

INSTALLING A HUSBAND
Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as
NBA 5.0,
NFL 3.0 and
Golf Clubs 4.1.
Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.
What can I do?
Signed,
Desperate

DEAR DESPERATE,
First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update.
If that application works as designed, Husband1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Please note that Beer 6. 1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend:
Cooking 3.0 and
Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck!

Yay For Online Shopping!!

So I had this cookie jar, not the one pictured here, but one exactly like it. It belonged to my mom who got it from her mom back in the early 70's. When we were kids my mom would alway make cookies and store them in her boat cookie jar. I always liked that cookie jar so she gave it to me when I moved out with Darren in 2001. I have been using the jar ever since for my own homemade cookies and now the girls enjoy digging into it for some yummy treats. I keep the cookie jar up on the shelf next to the microwave, well a few weeks ago Erika was bringing the cookie jar down and the lid fell and shattered to pieces! I was so upset, I got mad at her, which I regreted later. I then thought if it meant that much to me I should have had it up so they couldn't reach it, so it was my fault really. Well the next day I started searching online for a new one and lo and behold, I FOUND ONE!!! I was so happy! I found it on an antique website called RubyLane (rubylane.com). So I ordered it right away, cost me $43 in the end, but well worth it. And it arrived today!! (pictured above) That totally made my day I tell ya! And now I have to decide where to keep this one, away from sticky fingers!
I am now hooked on shopping for antiques......oh well, a girl's gotta spend money on something!! Thank you Ruby Lane!!!

School Days

So the girls' first day of Playschool was yesterday morning. I woke them up early around 7:30 and started getting them ready. I was getting a little nervous for them. When it was time to go I took their pictures on our deck(pictures below). Annika (in green) cooperated nicely but Erika DID NOT WANT HER PICTURE TAKEN. In fact in this picture she is giving me crap and telling me not to take pictures of her. She also is not feeling very good which made this whole morning not a pleasant one.
We get to school and find their pegs to hang their backpacks and coats. They were very excited to get their new shoes on! The teacher, Mrs. Harrish, gave them name tags to wear which Erika thought was pretty cool. They were really excited when they found the book center. Then Mrs. Harrish asked all the kids to sit down on a rug with animals on it for circle time. The girls didn't want to sit on the rug of course so they sat on my lap in a chair while we listened to Mrs. Harrish explain a few things. She then took all the kids on a tour of the room and this is when I thought would be a good time to flee the scene. I told the girls I was going now to go buy milk and I will be back to pick them up. They were okay with that until I started for the door and then they started to cry. It broke my heart but I knew better than to go back and try to make them stop. So I headed to Heather's for a visit and had the strongest coffee I've ever tasted, and waited until 11:15 to go pick up the girls.
When I got back to the school all the kids were lined up at the door in the classroom with their coats and backpacks on all ready to go. I guess they pretty much read books the whole time, they ate their snack (very good!), and made a craft (very, very good!!)Erika was the calendar helper so she got to put up some numbers on it. Not sure what Annika did. So I guess they had a pretty good morning.
Now they don't go back until Tuesday again which sucks they have to wait so long. But then it will be every Tuesday and Thursday morning which I can't wait for! Don't get me wrong, I love my children, but sometimes us mommies need a little time for ourselves!

You Know You Are Tired When.....

You know you are tired when...
You forget to put coffee grounds in the filter when making coffee, turn the good 'ole Black and Decker on and notice clear water dripping down filling the coffee pot.
I maybe should have stayed in bed a little longer. : )

Another Griswald Adventure

Well on Friday we were all ready to go for a final quading/camping trip for the summer down to Abraham. I took Annika into the doctor on the Thursday to get her cough checked out and it turned out she had a bronchial infection, so she was prescribed some antibiotics for that thank goodness. After a lot of thinking we decided to go on this final trip. So Friday morning I took the girls to my mom's while I went to do some last minute shopping. That afternoon was a mad rush to get everything packed and ready to go. Wendy, (Darren's sister) her husband Dave and their two girls met here that night so we could travel together.
We shoved off at 7:00 pm all pumped up and excited to get to our destination, we had Bob Marley's Three Little Birds playing, and I wished I had a drink with me. Well 45 minutes into the trip our truck broke down just west of Breton. Turns out the lift pump is shot. We ended up stalling in front of a farmer's house so he and his son ended up hanging out with us while we figured out what the heck to do. Darren got a hold of Shayne and Erin (friends of ours) and they said they would come and tow our holiday trailer for us. So the truck got towed into the farmer's yard and we waited for Shayne and Erin to come while we had a drink. What else do you do in a situation like that? May as well drink! I sure needed one! We were there a total of 2 hours and the girls were starting to get teary eyed and scared. I didn't blame them. By this time it was getting late and dark out.
So Shayne and Erin arrive yay!! Our knights in shining armor!! They hooked onto our trailer and we then decided to just pull the trailer to the cabin for the weekend. We thought we may as well just go there and try to enjoy the weekend. When we got there that night Uncle Allan was there to greet us. He wasn't planning to come there that night but I got a hold of him on the phone while we were on the side of the road to ask him if the cabin was open. It wasn't and we didn't have a key. So he went to the cabin to get everything unlocked so we could plug into power. What a super guy!
So it ended up just Wendy and her family, us, and uncle Allan at the cabin all weekend. It was actually a very nice weekend! The weather was a little chilly but not bad at all. Courtney (Wendy and Dave's daughter) and Darren caught a jackfish each so we had a fish fry, yummo! We played a whole lot of Sticks which was fun. I tried not to worry about the truck (which Dorin was able to haul back to our house with Darren on Saturday morning). Another knight in shining armor! Man we owe a lot of people after this weekend! I am so thankful for all the awesome friends and family we have.
Now after the weekend is done with we have to face the music and get the truck fixed. It might be on warranty so here's hoping!! And I think I am done traveling for a while after that catastrophe. : ) Chow for now!

Griswald's B.C. Vacation

Well we are back from an interesting holiday to B.C. We departed on Friday 18th after Darren got off from work. We met up with Heather and Derek at windy point for the night which is about 12 km west of Bighorn Dam. And they don't call it windy point for nothing. It was crazy windy! But we managed to have a nice fire and some drinks after the little ones went to bed.
Saturday 19th: Took off that morning and headed to Cedars Campground outside of Sicamous. The drive was going fine until the girls started getting a little car sick and Annika puked all over her blanket. So I told Heather and Derek over the two way radios and we had to stop at a rest area and get that cleaned up. Got to Cedars and camped there for the night and enjoyed our last opportunity for a fire. (there are no fire pits at the campground in Penticton) The guys stayed up and Darren drank a little too much bubbly.
Sunday 20th: Woke up at about 3:00am to Darren puking in the kitchen sink! Yes I said it! KITCHEN SINK! Grrrrr. So I gave him shit and sent him to the bathroom while I cleaned it up. I was pissed, but now when I think of it it is kind of funny. Then we settled back into bed to sleep some more until the girls woke up around 7:00 or so. So we then had breakfast and headed out again to our final destination, Penticton. Well we were about an hour into the drive, enjoying the beautiful B.C. countryside when Darren felt sick. So I radioed to H&D saying, "We got some puking action again.....from the driver." We pull over for a few minutes so Darren can do his thing, and then we shove off again. The drive was going pretty good again until we had to drive through Kelowna. The traffic sucked! It took forever to get through there and we almost rear ended a guy like 4 times. Once we got through there it was an awesome drive. It felt so good to finally get to Penticton. We got to Wright's Beach Campground and noticed how tight everyone was parked. They pack you in like sardines! We get to our site and get the trailer parked and then we noticed the neighbour's shitter hose is pretty much in the middle of our campsite! Gross! All the sites were like that! It wouldn't have been that bad if the guy wouldn't have kept his crap hose plugged into the hole all week! H&D's neighbours were all sitting around H&D's sewer hole. Disgusting! It felt so good to finally get there though and get all settled in for the week. After a few days we got used to the hose thing. But that night we were sitting at H&D's and we could smell strong sewer. There was a sewer holding tank with the man hole right behind their trailer. So once in a while you would get a good whiff. Yuck. Other than the sewer problems, the camsite was okay. The playground was behind us in a field so we could sit in our site and watch the girls play at the park. That was nice.
Monday 21st: We went on the lazy river. We took our boat "Dillweed" and H&D had a wicked raft with a cooler in the middle and IPod hook up with speakers. But we forgot to bring the IPod. Oh well. We all fit on the raft (4 adults and 4 kids) so it was a nice size. We tied Dillweed (which held all of our towels and such)to the raft and began the float. I got hot right away so I jumped out and laid on an inflatable toy of the girls which I tied to Dillweed. It was so nice! I would love to do that again! We had a little excitement with some aggresive baby ducks....they wanted food...we didn't have any. I got a little creeped out with the big fish swimming around us. It was awesome though. Heather and I got off half way with the kids and Darren and Derek continued on. They fell asleep from time to time and Darren got burned on his chest and stomach. That afternoon we got back and started having lunch when Erika got stomach cramps. She needed to have a BM which she didn't have in 5 days. All the rest of the day she was hurting so bad she could hardly move. I tried giving her the longest bath of her life. It seemed to help a bit but then at supper her tummy hurt again. She was in pain. She sat on the toilet most of the day and she just couldn't get anything out. Later I put her to bed, she slept about 30 min and woke up in pain again. So we put Annika in H&D's trailer and took Erika to the hospital. That was hell. But more for her than us. They tried a supository, took blood, xrays of her tummy, then they saw the huge poop that was the size of an orange that she would never be able to push out. So she had to get put under so the doctor could manually get it out. Scary stuff! But before they did anything they gave her some liquid my mouth which tasted gross because for like 5 min she just sat there with her tongue hanging out and crying "Yucky!!" It was 'forgetting medicine' the doctor called it. So they tried getting an IV into her first on her right hand like 3 times, blood was coming out like crazy. Then they tried her left hand a couple times. I don't know what the doctor's problem was, she would get it in then it would fall out, and she would try again and again meanwhile Erika is freaking out! Inside I was freaking as well but I didn't want Erika to see that. So they gave up and gave her some more 'forgetting serum' up her nose with a syringe. Two big squirts in each nostril and she was freaking out again. I felt so sorry for her and there was nothing I could do. After that stuff kicked in she was pretty out of it and then they were getting ready to begin the procedure. By this time it was 3:00am.
The doctor came out at 3:30am and told us they were done, we could go in and see her. Then we decided Darren should go back to camp and sleep while I stayed with her. We didn't get into a room until about 5:00am.
Tuesday 22nd: I woke up after only sleeping 30 min and checked on Erika, then I went back to sleep until she woke up at 6:00am. She saw the IV in her hand and all the bandages covering it and she freaked, she tried to rip it all off. She kept saying "Annika can't see this! Annika can't see this!" That broke my heart. She was concerned about what her sister would think. I calmed her down and she fell back asleep. She slept till around 8:00am and woke up in a much better mood. I talked to her and explained about the IV and what it's doing. We played around with the buttons on the automatic bed. She was fine after that. Darren came by around 9:30am with Annika. We hung around for a bit and I took Annika back to camp while Darren stayed to help Erika with her breakfast. I showered and cried and cried and cried. I couldn't stop. I felt so guilty and that this was all my fault. After eating we took off again to the pharmacy to pick up the meds Erika has to be on for 6 months. It is 3 containers of this powder stuff which cost $99 all together! Expensive! By the time we got back to the hospital it was time for Erika's lunch. Darren took off with Annika and I stayed and helped with her lunch. She got so tired all of a sudden. So I layed her down and she slept from 1:00pm till around 4:00pm or so. I also had a sleep which felt good. We didn't get out of there until 5:00pm. It felt so good to take her out of there and continue on with our holiday. All while everything was going on Heather and Derek were awesome. They gave up their bed for Annika when we had to take Erika in. She cleaned my trailer, did my dishes! That night we all picked up lobster tails and they made us and the girls supper. Wow did we ever appreciate all of that! What a day!
Wednesday 23rd: We woke up to rain and it rained most of the day. We had a boat booked for us to rent all day. Thank god we were able to cancel that and we booked another boat on the Okanagan for Thursday. So we decided it was a good day to go touring and check out the fruit stands and such. About 10 min before we were leaving Darren's burn on his chest got severely itchy. We was going crazy!! He lathered himself with anything he could find, green jelly for burns, aloe vera, lotion, calamine lotion. Nothing was working. To be honest it was pretty funny! So we headed back to the pharmacy and the pharmasist recommended Benadryl allergy pills. While I was paying at the till I could see Darren in the truck rocking back and forth going nuts. It was so funny..I almost broke out laughing! So he took the pills and within 20 min he was feeling much better. Who knew! So we went to the info center, bought wine and other souvenirs. Checked our fruit stands on the highway south out of Penticton and bought some yummy jams, syrups, and fruit. Made our way to Okanagan Falls to Tickleberry's, an ice cream and gift shop, and had some yummy ice cream!
Thursday 24th: We rented a boat to do some tubing and such. Our rental was from 10:00am till 6:00pm. It was a beautiful day compared to yesterday. There was hardly anyone else on the lake. We all took turns on the tube. Even Mackenzie, H&D's little girl, went for a ride, first with Derek, then by herself. Then we stopped and let Erika and Mackenzie float around in the tube. I asked Erika for the hell of it if she would like to get pulled behind the boat. She surprisingly said 'yes'! So her and Mackenzie went for a little ride together. That was cool! I didn't think Erika would want to do something like that! Later we docked and went and had a picnic in the park before heading out again for the afternoon. Did some more tubing, swimming, etc. We only lasted until 4:00pm and we got tired. So we docked early and headed back to the campsite. We were all so tired from a day in the boat. Derek might have gotten heatstroke, he was in bed super early! And I was very cranky! After a couple drinks I felt better though. heehee
Friday 25th: Said farewell to Penticton. I think I wouldn't mind going back to that campground again. Took off that morning for home. Stopped in Summerland to try to catch the Kettle Valley steam train but missed it by 5 min. So we then went to Summerland Sweets, another gift shop, and bought more jam, syrups, fruit wine, and$7 crackers that were yummy! Went as far as Canyon Hot Springs east of Revelstoke. Went and swam in the hot pools which felt awesome! That was a really nice campground! I would totally go back!
Saturday 26th: We stayed another night at Canyon so we would have more time to go back to the pools. The girls did so well swimming with their lifejackets on. They had a blast! That night we had some icecream at the main buildings which topped off our wicked holiday!
Sunday 27th: Headed for home sweet home!! It was a very pleasant drive, long, but pleasant. All in all, I think it was a pretty good trip and I would love to do it again!
A couple lessons learned: We have awesome friends which I don't express enough, Benadryl allergy pills help with itchy sunburn, and fibre is your friend! : )
Pictures will be on facebook.

The Kitties Hatched!!

Had to tell this story. We got back from mom and dad's last night and walked up onto the deck and I noticed one of our farm cats Tigger laying on the patio swing looking all wide-eyed and scared. Then I saw the baby kittens crawling around her. She GAVE BIRTH ON MY SWING!! My swing where I like to relax, swing, and read a good book. Yuk! It truely was kind of gross but at the same time it was so cool to see brand new kitties! The girls were in awe and they didn't say too much. I then told Erika to go tell Darren that Tigger had her babies on the swing. She went running and I can hear her yelling to him, "Daddy, daddy!! Tiggers babies hatched on mommy's swing!!" It was the cutest thing.
We have them set up in the garage in a pet carrier now and they are the cutest things!! I wish they could stay little!

Rednecks in a Can

Well Canada Day long weekend turned out beautiful weather wise. Fickle Lake is bigger than I had pictured it too. We tried out our little boat. We took it out and started blowing it up and as the air was going in I was hoping it would get bigger. No such luck. The box said 4 man boat. Yea, maybe 4 children.
We boarded the boat like sardines in a can for it’s maiden voyage with our tackle box and 4 fishing rods. The only thing I could find at the trailer to put a fish in in case we caught one was a wash basin big enough to hold maybe a few big perch. A friend who was watching us asked as we were pulling away what we named the boat. We couldn’t think of anything so he called it The Dillweed.
So we shoved off in The Dillweed hoping to catch something. As we were paddling out Darren’s paddle broke! I am beginning to think this voyage is jinxed now. I got a little worried. But he managed to keep paddling with half a paddle.
So we decided on a spot to stop and Darren decided not to fish since there wasn’t much room. So he helped the girls while they tried fishing with their rods. So I start casting. Did I mention it was super HOT out!? So I am casting and not catching anything but weeds when a thought occurred to me, “What if I catch a big fish? We have no net and this basin wouldn’t hold a jackfish, no way.” I changed my lure to a perch hook, baited it with a bug I caught walking on the side of the boat, let out my line and sat, and sat, and sat,……”Forget it! Let’s go back!” I don’t know about anyone else but I had enough. My feet were beginning to cramp up and the girls faces were starting to get pretty pink from the sun. So we start paddling back in, with no fish. : (
Oh well. I am thinking now we need to buy a real boat……
Here we are going out in The Dillweed

And here we are coming in. I think the trip lasted maybe 30 min.! Darren looks jammed in there pretty good! Too funny! But hey, we didn't sink!!

Happy Canada Day!

So we are going on a camping/fishing trip this weekend to Fickle Lake (south of Edson) with some friends of ours. Our first official camping trip with our new trailer!! Yay!! I bought us a 4 man inflatable boat for us to go fishing in (I know you are probably laughing to yourself right now aren't ya..). Yes we might look silly but come on...It's a Coleman!! And it came with 4 paddles!! But I am hoping to catch something we can fry up for supper!
I actually had a dream this morning that I caught a HUGE pike! But then it turned out to just be a really huge CAT! Not sure what that means......but me being a cat lover I decided to let it go. Yes I am strange and have strange dreams. Anyways...I will post pics when we get back from the trip and hopefully there will be a picture of me with a huge fish! Or cat....anyways.....
Happy Canada Day everyone!!

Deep Thoughts

A funny thing to do is, if you're out hiking and your friend gets bitten by a poisonous snake, tell him you're going to go for help, then go about ten feet and pretend that *you* got bit by a snake. Then start an argument with him about who's going to go get help. A lot of guys will start crying. That's why it makes you feel good when you tell them it was just a joke. -Jack Handey

Friday, June 6, 2008

Well we picked up our new trailer last night!! I totally can't wait to go camping now!! The girls have claimed their bunks already (Erika has the top;Annika on the bottom). They were going wild in their bunks last night at Western RV. I am just thinking now how long it will take before they rip their big curtain down. Then I will have to tan some hide! Just kidding......so we were up till 11:00 or so last night taking all our stuff out of the old trailer into the new one, and watching Super Bad on the 20" flat screen tv that came with it!! How cool is that! It also came with an outside BBQ, DVD player, surround sound speakers, ELECTRIC AWNING!! That is pretty cool.
And I have to tell this little story. We were eating supper last night and Erika was holding up a piece of tomato that she took a bite out of and said "This looks like your head mommy!" Ok...not sure if she was referring to my new red hair or just the shape of my head. Not sure which I prefer actually! But it was pretty funny.......anyways......

Annika

We had the girls 4th birthday on Saturday and it turned out to be such a beautiful day weather wise thank god! The girls had a blast and they are so happy with all their loot they got from everyone! I can hardly believe they are 4 already. I find myself thinking that everyday. We are so blessed with having these two munchkins in our lives! So happy birthday girls! Chow for now!

4 Years Old

Well as of 11:00 tonight the girls will be 4 years old. Can hardly believe it! I took them out for lunch to McDonalds with my mom as well and then took them shopping for stuff we need for their party tomorrow. We picked up a pinata, or peeatah as Annika calls it. It should be a blast tomorrow. I just hope the weather is nice!!

Animals

So it's been a while since Spook left us. I do miss her and the girls still always talk about her. She used to jump up on the bed as soon as I would lay down at night and cuddle up to me.
But you know life with no animals in the house, besides our fish of course whom we are still undecided about his name, is actually quite nice. No more litter box and pet hair everywhere. We still have Jerry, who I kicked out of the house about a year ago (long story,........ involving TAPE WORM!) BLECH!!
Anyways.....so yea, where was I? So Jerry comes in to eat (I still buy him cat food) and drink out of the toilet every so often and then he gets kicked back out. I know what your thinking. How mean of me right? I don't think he minds much, and in the winter he has a heated garage with a cat door so he can come and go in there as he pleases. Along with about 10 or so farm cats that he has befriended.
So although I miss my Spooky I know she is in a better place right now.
And hey, maybe we can get new living room furniture now! Darren always told me when the cats are gone we can look for new furniture. I bet he regrets saying that!
Chow!

Good-bye Spook

Ah here she is, Spook with Erika. This was taken quite a while ago. Well today I had to get her put down. The cat that is, not Erika.
I took Spook in as a stray back in Jan 2000 when I still lived at home. She made the move with me out to the farm to our new mobile home Oct. of '01. She was my little baby before the midgets came along. When Darren and I went on our honeymoon in '03 we had Dale come over to feed her. Well she got out and disappeared. My mom and dad picked us up from the airport when we got back and mom said Spook is gone and they couldn't find her. They tried calling her for a couple days then gave up. I was pretty upset. Well when we got home I took my luggage inside and went outside to call her. Within 2 minutes she was back. She came running out of the bush and straight to me. She wouldn't come out for anyone else but me. That was pretty cool.
I loved her so much. She was Annika's favorite kitty.
Well over the past month she started going downhill. She wasn't eating as much and was losing a ton of weight. She wobbled when she walked. Last week I noticed a lump under one of her nipples and it went all the way to her front leg. She also couldn't even 'meow'. She would try but no sound would come out of her.
Yesterday she stopped eating so I took her in this morning knowing that this wasn't good. The vet checked her out and sure enough she has cancer. I prepared myself all morning, and cried all morning. He told me that test could be done and then surgery. I decided to get her put down and he agreed that was the best thing I could do for her. She doesn't need to suffer anymore. He gave us a moment alone and I bawled all over her, he then took her away. Oh my god that was hard. The hardest thing I have ever done.
I then picked up the girls from my mom's and when I was putting them in the truck they noticed the empty pet carrier in the front seat. They asked where Spook was over and over and over, while I tried to stay composed, I then said she was too sick and had to stay at the vet and she can't come home. Well then Annika started to cry and she said 'But I lover her!'. Yea...my heart broke. I cried all the way home and have been crying all afternoon. It is so hard to lose a pet. But you know, we gave her a very good life and that is something to be happy about.
And I think I will stay away from pets I can't flush down the toilet.
Farewell Spooky!! We love you!!

The Scissors Strike Again

Man! I have been so careful with keeping all scissors out of reach since Erika's incident.
Well last night after cutting the elastics out of the girls piggy tails I carelessly put the scissors on the bathroom counter.
Cereal time came around and Annika had to run to the biffy. I realized she was taking way too long so I went in there and she was sitting on her potty. Okay. Things looked fine.
The scissors were sticking out of the drain in the sink. Weird.
So then Annika stands up and I notice the long hairs falling around her. She had cut her hair in two spots!! I was pulling strands of hair off her head and off her nightie! She then got a little upset and started to sob. I couldn't really give her too much shit seeing as this was really my fault for leaving the stupid scissors within reach. Stupid!! Stupid!!
So they have both done this now. Hopefully they got it out of their system and don't do it again. And hopefully I have learned my lesson. Hopefully....

A Classic!!

This is for all you Kids in the Hall junkies out there! If you are a fan I am sure you will remember this little diddy:
Smokin' on a night train, chewin' on a jelly roll,
Smokin' on a night train, chewin' on a jelly roll,
I'm runnin' up a flag without a pole,
I'm walkin' on a shoe without a sole,
Smokin' on a night train, chewin' on a jelly roll.
(OK here i' comes, lesson one.)
You can't cook an egg unless you got yourself a frying pan.
(You know it's the truth.)
You can't cook an egg unless you got yourself a frying pan.
You shouldn't rob a bank without a plan,
You shouldn't use your tongue to stop a fan.
Smokin' on a night train, chewin' on a jelly roll.
(Now here come lesson number two.)
Shouldn't wanna do it if you don't want to not do it right.
Eba-dabba-dooba-daba-deba-daba-do, all right.
(I ain't makin' this up.)
You don't go dancin' in the day,
You don't go golfin' in the night.
Smokin' on a night train, chewin' on a jelly roll.
(Yeah.)
Smokin' on a night train, chewin' on a jelly roll.
