Yet Another Update

Holy time flies when you're having fun! It's been about 6 months since I last wrote. I think about blogging all the time but then I never really get down to actually doing it!

Our summer was pretty quiet. Did a little camping, mostly close to home. The furthest we went was to Drumheller in august. It was just the 5 of us. It would have been nice to go with someone else on this trip but then when you are just with the fam it is a whole lot more relaxing , just doing our own thing. The girls had a blast, and well Reid is still too little to understand what the heck we were doing. He was a super camper this summer! Didn't have one problem with him at all! Can't wait till next summer when he'll be running around!

The girls started grade one in september. So far they are liking it, Erika more than Annika though. Erika is sure a little go getter and I think that is why she enjoys being at school. It's been a little bit different this year with them so far. They sure seem to be influenced by other kids, meaning they notice more about the older kids and what they wear and how they do their hair. I'm not allowed to put Erika and Annika's hair in piggy tails anymore because they say they are too old for that, which makes me sad. I tried it with Annika one day for school and let's just say her whole day was ruined! lol

It's now november, Remembrance Day is tomorrow, and already people are in the Christmas spirit! Christmas commercials started running on the first of november! I couldn't believe it! A lot of people on Facebook have stated they are done their Christmas shopping already. I've only gotten 2 things for Reid so far and that's it. Would like to get more done though and soon!

Darren has started his hunting. So far they haven't gotten anything.

Well I think that's about it. Chow for now!

Big Adjustment

Wow! Where to start! Well how about April 6! Went in for my c-section to have the baby. I was so nervous while I was being prepped for the surgery that my hands and feet were so sweaty. When the time came I had to walk across the hallway into the operation room. That was scary. I felt numb and almost like it was a dream. They did a spinal instead of an epideral which worked SO fast. My legs were pretty much useless as soon as the spinal went in and I had to lay down on the table. Darren was brought in and everything went so fast!
He arrived at 8:13am weighing 7lbs 11oz! I heard him crying for the first time and I had to cry. I was just so happy to hear that he was healthy and that it was a boy!! Yahoo!! We named him Reid William. He was born on a Tuesday and we came home on the Friday. I was so happy to finally get out of the hospital. I was getting pretty sick and tired of the hospital food and all the nurses. You sure don't get much sleep at the hospital.
It's been a busy few weeks trying to adjust to the new baby and trying to get used to getting no sleep. I'm pretty tired these days but it's worth it. He is so good! He just eats and sleeps.
Took him to his first parade on Saturday in Leduc and he slept through the whole thing.
It sure is different to have just one baby compared to twins I tell ya. A whole lot easier!!
He'll be a month old this Thursday already. Time is flying!!

Final Countdown

Well in less than 24 hours I'll be at the hospital and the baby should be out of my belly! I am super excited but more scared than anything. Just very nervous for the c-section. Going through one with the girls kind of reassures me of what to expect but I am still nervous to be in pain in the days after the surgery. It's going to be so different this time too because the baby will actually be with me in my room whereas the girls were wisked away to the NICU. It's going to be so nice to be able to hold him.
I am going to miss the girls SO much. Last night when I tucked them into bed and kissed them goodnight I almost burst into tears just knowing that would be the last night this week that I will be doing that. They go to my mom's tonight and are staying Wednesday night as well. Mom and dad are going to be bringing them to the hospital to see us tomorrow. I can't wait until they finally get to meet their little brother, or maybe the baby will surprise us a be a girl. We'll see.
So tonight I probably won't sleep a wink. We have to leave here around 5:30am to be there for 6:30. Surgery is at 8:00am. Shortly after that this baby will finally enter the world outside of me! Yay! Then I'll be looking forward to Friday when I get to come home.
So I pray that the surgery goes smoothly and that the baby is healthy. That's all I ask.
Next time I blog I will have a new baby! Ta ta for now!

Another Annikaism

Took the girls shopping with me yesterday. At the checkout counter Annika said she wanted a Kinder surprise egg. So I let the girls pick out one each. After that we headed to McDonald's and got them each a happy meal with toys.
On the way home this was a conversation between Annika and I while I'm driving:

Annika: We sure got a lot of things today, an egg and a toy.

Me: Yea you guys sure are spoiled.

Annika: What does spoiled mean?

Me: It means you get anything you want.

Annika: Oh. I thought it meant you were lucky.

Oh my god did I laugh. She comes up with the funniest things!

Update

Well it has been a super long time since I wrote last. My pregnancy is moving right along. I am 34 weeks along already! How crazy is that?! We found out in December that it's a boy! Yay!
Annika and Erika are sharing a room again. I felt bad for Annika at first because she was so excited to have her own room a couple years ago and now she had to give up her room for the baby. She seemed a little emotional the first week of her sharing a room again but she bounced back to her old self in no time.
I've been seeing my OB Dr. Lee. We are leaning towards a repeat c-section which is already booked for April 6th! Dr. Lee said though that he could come earlier and it would be up to me, depending on how much I am dialated, to get a c-section or try it normally. So it's all up to this little guy.
His bedroom is all set up, got a lot of clothes from my cousins Denise and Pam which will help A LOT. It is very much appreciated!
Now all we do is wait...and wait...and wait to see what happens.
Darren goes on a business trip to Orlando next week for five days or so. Hopefully this little guy doesn't decide to come when Darren is gone! I doubt that will happen though.
So that is about it...we are very excited but nervous to have a baby in the house again. It's been a while! I am sure we are going to enjoy and cherish every moment.
