Carriers Shmarriers

I feel another rant coming on! Okay, I am a subscriber to Canadian Today's Parent magazine. I also subscribe to Canadian Family. I like these magazines a lot, mainly because they are Canadian and usually have very informative articles in them. I have the May issue for the Today's Parent and in it is an article on overusage of strollers now a days. She starts off saying that she isn't anti-stroller but then carries on about how we are over using them. She says that she would rather see children on their parents lap, in their arms, or holding their hands. Obviously she hasn't had twins!! She also says that slings, backpacks, and strap-on-front-carriers are better ways to tote the young ones around. Okay, I am not carrying my kids around in carriers. I think strollers are the best thing for kids/babies. She says "strollers promote distance (between kid and parent), not closeness." I think kids don't need to be touched and handled all day long. If your kid can't handle time in a stroller then something is wrong there. I totally doubt it that if you use a stroller over a carrier that it will affect how your child turns out in the end. In my opinion a carrier spoils kids if they are overused. SO THERE! Then she says that malls are the perfect place for toddlers to "toddle" around and explore instead of being in a stroller. I don't think she has been to West Edmonton Mall. I am not going to let my kids just roam wherever they choose there. They are definately in their stroller when we go there that's for sure. I think maybe a PARK would be a better option anyways to let them explore. Not a stuffy mall. I don't know. Maybe it's just me. The picture above is the girls when they were a little over a year old and we were camping at Big Horn Dam. They spent a lot of time in their stroller and in their Super Gate growing up and they turned out better than fine.

Bye Bye Mommy Time

Well let's see. Not much new lately. I have lost 'mommy time' which I am missing soooooo much. My 'mommy time' was when the girls take their daily nap for the afternoon. It's week three that I have taken this nap away. It seems they are in between needing this nap and not needing it. I was waking them up after an hour but they still wouldn't go to bed at night without me going into their bedroom a thousand times telling them "GET TO SLEEP!!!" ........and pulling my hair out. Now without a nap they go to bed pretty good. Most of the time they are asleep in 5 minutes. Awesome! I do let them nap Friday and Saturdays so we can go out and they can then stay up a little later. It's been working pretty good but I will say it again, I miss their naps!! It was so nice to have even that hour to myself just to do whatever. Oh well. Ahh the sacrifices we make. ha ha
The egg in our vents hasn't been smelling at all. That's really good news!
Darren finally replaced the bathroom door knob with a new one. (the other one always locked on ya. It took a friend to get locked in the bathroom with her daughter a couple weekends ago to get it done.)
The weather has finally smartened up. Had snow a few days ago, which has all melted now. Today is an awesome sunny day!!
Went to a Partylite party at my sister-in-law's (Wendy) house yesterday. Spent too much money which the hubby doesn't neet to know about. I go crazy over that stuff!
And that's about it for now! Chow!

Saturday morning

Ahhh, Saturday morning. The smell of eggs cooking.....wait a minute. Eggs cooking!?? I'm not cooking eggs.
Well the egg in our vents is starting to smell. I actually forgot all about it. I can smell it faintly in the air and I was wondering why. So far it smells good. It just smells like someone is frying up an egg on the stove. I can live with that. I just hope it doesn't start stinking!!

What's that smell?

OMG!! Well in about a few weeks our house is going to wreak of rotten eggs! The girls have this habit of taking off the vent covers and playing with them. They have put balls down them a couple times. Well today we were decorating eggs. We were going to dye our last egg when I told Annika to get it off the kitchen table and bring it to me. Well she dropped it and the son of a bitch rolled under the table and straight down into the heat duct! We tried sticking the vaccuum hose down in there but we couldn't reach it. God only knows where that thing is. I was furious at Annika and yelled at her, which I regret now. But she got over it in a hurry thankfully. I know it wasn't her fault and that she didn't mean for that to happen. So know I don't know what to do. If anyone has any ideas please throw them out to me. I am thinking of calling a duct cleaning place this week and see if they can maybe find it and get it out. I don't know. Only me this would happen to. As my auntie Carol says, " If I didn't have bad luck I would have no luck at all." Anyways, HAPPY EASTER!!

Well I don't think we have to worry about the rabbit (Peter) anymore. Dale and Darren saw a dead rabbit on the side of the road. (No the rabbit above is not Peter. Got it from an email and thought it fit my post. )Anyways, they figure our neighbours dogs got it. Poor thing. I feel kind of bad now for it. I even thought it was kind of cute the way he played with our farm cats. One night a little cat named Bear was sitting on the girls sleigh and Peter was hopping around the sleigh in circles playing with Bear. It was so cute. I would even talk to the girls about Peter whenever he would come into our yard and say things like "Maybe he's the Easter bunny and he will bring you treats on Easter." Oh well, it's probably for the best. Our neighbour, the one with the dogs, has about 30 around his yard I guess. So I am sure one of them will saunter their way into our yard too sooner or later. I prefer later.
Darren's 29th birthday was yesterday. We had his dad(his mom was working) and my parents over for supper and cake. Nothing too major.
It has been snowing lightly for a couple days now. I went from raking leaves one day to shoveling snow the next. Gotta love Alberta!
